Paris

After a lovely couple of days in Provo, I am in Paris!!! I was sad to leave BYU, but so excited to get here. Provo is so great mostly because I have amazing friends there (and also because I really love BYU). I stayed with Jill and May and managed to see most of the other people on my list. I got BYU creamery ice cream 3 times (haha), went to the Awful Waffle (best thing ever), Costa Vida, Einstein's Bagels, and J-Dawgs. I mean, it's all about the food, right? haha... Anyway I also got to go to temple and devotional. I mostly just hung out around campus with some of the coolest people ever. true story. Then it was off to the airport for my 12 hour journey to Paris!!

We got to Paris last Saturday morning. The majority of us were extremely tired, but we still had to somehow find our way to the hotel. We had directions and it looked pretty straightforward, but that was not so. The train we were supposed to take straight from the airport was not working so we had to: take the shuttle from the airport to a different station, take a bus from that station, get on the train into Paris, get on the Metro and then walk to our hotel from the closest station. And do it with all our luggage and on only 3ish hours of  sleep. oh yeah. We couldn't check in to our rooms for a few hours, so we decided to go explore the neighborhood. We went over to the Tour Eiffel and walked around a bit, then went back and hung out in our director's room until our rooms were ready. We finally got into the rooms and I met my roommates. I was kind of worried about who I would end up rooming with, but my fears were unnecessary. I couldn't have better roommates if I had picked them out myself.

{the Eiffel Tower is really big}

{the French have this weird affinity for square trees}
{the view from our room}
{all the floors had these weird signs made out of chains with pink florescent lighting}
{my (already messy) room at the beginning of the week)
[everything in the hotel was all weird and modern-y]
(and the beds were super firm but I decided that I kind of like them that way. weird)
I started this post a week ago, but I've been so busy here that I haven't had time to write much. Now that I've been here a week, there is way too much to write about so I'm going to break it down into a few posts :)
To start off: I love it here. Paris is absolutely beautiful. There is so much here. so much art, architecture, food, music, history, and culture. It would take a lifetime to see everything here.

For the next few weeks will be moving around France, so I'll do my best to get all the posts up. Stay tuned :)

One Week

That is how long I have to wait until PROVO! I'm getting antsy here.
I'm almost sort of ready. I finally got my suitcase and raincoat last week :)

note: my suitcase is 1.very small: 21x14x10 for 3 months...
 and 2.empty...(big surprise)...yeah...

Yay for packing light!

I've been doing some fun stuff to distract from my impending doom packing.
Last week I went to Hershey Park with my dad and brothers. It was super fun even though I'm not much of an amusement park person. I like smaller roller coasters but that's about it so while my brothers went on a bigger one my dad and I got ice cream instead. win.

{cold stone creamery...mmm}
{this is us being tired}
[it was a long day]
Matthew left for school last week and his birthday is next week so we celebrated it before he left.
I made him a rolo cake: yellow cake with caramel swirl and chocolate caramel frosting.

I didn't let the frosting refrigerate like I was supposed to so it was a little drippy. Not pretty but still yummy :)
